ANDY NEVALA QUARTET
Latin jazz is more than just a genre—it’s a rich cultural dialogue, a celebration of rhythm, and a constant evolution of tradition. Few musicians understand this balance better than pianist, composer, and educator Andy Nevala. With their recently recorded album, El Rumbón (The Party), Nevala and his quartet present a powerful statement on the vitality of Afro-Cuban jazz, an album that blends reverence for the masters with a bold, contemporary vision.
The quarter consists of bassist Andy Eulau, who provides a steady, propulsive foundation, with percussionist Frankie Quiñones and drummer Emrah Kotan, who drive the music’s heartbeat with dynamic interplay.
ORQUESTA MACUBA
Eddy & Mayi Lopez and Orquesta Macuba bring a joyful, high-energy, danceable performance that blends Latin jazz, salsa, and Afro-Cuban rythms.
The 10-piece salsa band has been on the Atlanta music scene since 2003. It consists of a full brass section, full percussion section, and a full rhythm section with back-up vocalists.
DeSoto Theatre Lobby opens at 6:00pm for cocktails and concessions for purchase at the Linda and Jim Owens Gallery.
Auditorium doors open at 6:30pm.
