Maisey Rika – One of Aotearoa’s most powerful and expressive voices, Māori singer/songwriter Maisey Rika (Ngāti Awa, Te Arawa, Ngāi Tūhoe, Te Whānau a Apanui) brings her soulful blend of Māori, folk, acoustic, and roots music to Leeward Theatre. With a sound often compared to Tracy Chapman or Sade, her performances are rich in cultural depth and emotional resonance. Singing in both English and Te Reo Māori, Rika’s music speaks to universal themes of love, struggle, joy, and justice, while honoring her Māori heritage. A multi-award-winning artist, she offers a moving and unforgettable musical experience.
Recognizing the significance of this project, four-time Grammy Award winner Kalani Pe‘a joins an impressive roster of artists, including Nā Hōkū Hanohano Award winners Kamakakēhau Fernandez, and Patrick Landeza, Ikaika Blackburn, jazz vocalist Azure McCall, as well as award-winning composer Māhealani Uchiyama and her Hālau Ka Ua Tuahine in performance.
