Sheldon, who is rescued from a car crash by his "number one fan," Annie Wilkes, and wakes up captive in her secluded home. After discovering Sheldon killed off her favorite character, Misery Chastain, in his latest novel, the deranged Annie forces him to write a new book bringing the character back to life. Trapped in a terrifying battle of wits and survival, Paul realizes Annie has no intention of letting him leave, and his life depends on outsmarting her.
