SHAKESPEAREAN YOUTH THEATRE PRESENTS
TWELFTH NIGHT; OR, WHAT YOU WILL
Directed by Madeline Wall
“I would you were as I would have you be...”
The Countess Olivia is in mourning for the death of her brother. Her entire household wears black; she accepts no visitors, and especially no romantic suitors... until a young man named Cesario arrives on her doorstep.
Cesario is a servant sent by Duke Orsino to deliver love poems to Olivia. But instead of being swept away by Duke Orsino’s’ flowery romantic verses, Olivia is enchanted by Cesario's quick wit and sensitivity… and she begins to fall in love with the servant boy.
There's just one problem: Cesario is actually a young woman named Viola in disguise as a boy, and Viola is madly in love wiiiith…. Duke Orsino.
At once hilarious and heartbreaking, Twelfth Night hurtles through a ‘whirligig’ world of love-triangles, mistaken identity, and unrequited love.
Performing March 13 - 22, 2026 at the Crane Theater.
Shakespearean Youth Theatre is a program of Minnesota Shakespeare Theater.
