Join us for Steve Reich’s gripping masterpiece, Different Trains. Composed in 1988, Different Trains represents one of the most important works for string quartet from the last years of the 20th century. Reich uses tape looping over the music to create a haunting and hypnotic tapestry upon which he tells the story of the Jewish people before, during and after the events of World War II.

Paired with Reich’s masterpiece is Philip Glass’ String Quartet No. 5 which sees the composer at his most expansive and cinematic. With equal parts precision and gesture, this work takes its audience on a satisfying journey that is as sweeping as it is succinct, a perfect companion piece to Different Trains.
