Summer Shorts Submissions 2026

THEATRE WORKSHOP OF OWENSBORO's annual short play festival will soon be underway. SUMMER SHORTS 2026 will begin accepting original works January 2nd.  Playwrights may submit to the following link on or after that date.  DO NOT SUBMIT YOUR WORK BEFORE JANUARY 2!  Submissions will be accepted through March 15.

The link for submissions is twosummershorts407@gmail.com.  Please email in PDF form, and write SUMMER SHORTS SCRIPTS on the subject line.

CASH AWARDS will be provided for the play judged BEST PLAY by our reading committee, and the work voted AUDIENCE FAVORITE by patrons in attendance.  The amount of the awards will be determined at a later date.  Six plays will be featured in the program, and considered for the CASH PRIZES.

And now...THE GUIDELINES!

• 20 pages maximum, with no more than 5 characters

• 10-12 minute duration

• Submit in standard play script format

• $20 per script submission fee (2 script max)

• IMPORTANT!  Do not include your name on the manuscript.  Please use a separate cover sheet for name/contact information.  (This is so all scripts can be evaluated anonymously.)

PLAYS MUST NEVER HAVE BEEN PRODUCED. NO AI GENERATED MATERIAL WILL BE ACCEPTED.
