Erik Larson will be joined in conversation by fellow author Greg Melville.

Erik Larson is the author of nine books and an audio-only novella. His latest, The Demon of Unrest, recounts the tense five months between Lincoln’s election and the Civil War. Six of his books have been New York Times bestsellers, including two—The Splendid and the Vile and Dead Wake—that debuted at No. 1. The Devil in the White City was a National Book Award finalist, won an Edgar Award, spent years on bestseller lists, and is in development at Disney. In the Garden of Beasts is in development with StudioCanal and Playtone.

His debut, Isaac’s Storm, won the American Meteorological Society’s Louis J. Battan Award. He also received the Chicago Public Library Foundation’s Carl Sandburg Literary Award. His audio novella No One Goes Alone is a fictional ghost story rooted in real history.

Larson graduated summa cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania and earned a master’s in journalism from Columbia. He has written for The Wall Street Journal, Time, The New Yorker, The Atlantic, Harper’s, and more. He has taught nonfiction writing at several universities and regularly speaks nationwide. A former Seattle resident, he now lives in Manhattan with his wife, a neonatologist and author. They have three adult daughters and a late dog, Molly, who rests in an urn overlooking Central Park.
