This year’s show is titled In Our Element: the Everlasting Beauty of Black Art. A show about finding your identity through explorations of Black art and the importance of self-expression. The show is a journey: at the beginning, you don’t know what you’re looking for, you question who you are, and how you are perceived by others. Then you start taking steps towards learning: taking yourself out of your comfort zone and connecting with your community and culture. By the end, you know who you are, how you fit into the world, and how you will express yourself.
The show is written, directed, and performed by ESA students in Grades 9-12 and includes drama, spoken word, film, visual arts, vocals, music, and dance.
