The Half-Life of Marie Curie
By Lauren Gunderson
Directed by Marla O'Brien
**Contains strong language and mature themes**

The Half-Life of Marie Curie depicts the true story of pioneering, trailblazing scientists Marie Curie and Hertha Ayrton, close friends who navigated male-dominated fields in the early 20th century. Following a scandalous affair that threatens her career, a demoralized Curie finds refuge with Ayrton, who helps her overcome public shame and reclaim her scientific legacy. Set mostly at Ayrton’s seaside home in England during the summer of 1912, the play explores their shared brilliance, personal joys and losses, and the immense pressure of living as pioneers in science. This luminous, empowering and often humorous play explores the resilience of friendship and the strength it takes to stand tall in a world determined to tear you down.
