Frederic Rzewski: The People United Will Never Be Defeated!

This is a rare opportunity to hear pianist Benjamin Hochman perform Frederic Rzewski’s 1975 masterpiece for solo piano - a grand set of 36 variations based on the inspiring Chilean song of resistance and protest. It mixes the language of late 19th-century Romanticism with 20th-century piano techniques to create a unique tour-de-force that affirms the enduring power of human solidarity.

Raphael Bell, Benjamin Hochman, Demarre McGill, and Tim Summers

This concert is co-sponsored by Charles & Janet Cheeseman and Robert and Janis Chevalier.
