1776 is the Tony Award-winning musical featuring a book by Peter Stone and music and lyrics by Sherman Edwards. Set during the summer of 1776, the show follows John Adams, Benjamin Franklin, and Thomas Jefferson as they work to persuade the members of the Second Continental Congress to break free from British rule and sign the Declaration of Independence.
