Earthquakes! Tidal waves! Infernos! Piranhas! Disaster! is an outrageously funny jukebox musical inspired by the over-the-top disaster movies of the 1970s. Featuring some of the decade’s biggest hits including “Hot Stuff,” “I Am Woman,” “Knock on Wood,” “Hooked on a Feeling,” and “I Will Survive”. This high-energy musical comedy is big, silly, and spectacularly chaotic in the best possible way.
It is 1979, and New York’s hottest new floating casino and discotheque is preparing for its opening night. The guest list includes a faded disco star, a nightclub singer and her young twins, a disaster expert, a corrupt casino owner, and a nun with a suspicious fondness for slot machines. What begins as a night of dancing and romance quickly descends into pandemonium when earthquakes, tidal waves, fires, and other increasingly ridiculous catastrophes strike. With danger around every corner and a hit song ready for every crisis, the survivors must find a way to escape before this party becomes a total disaster.
Run Time: 2.5 hours plus a 15 minute intermission
Recommended for ages 13 and up due to mature humor, sexual references, disaster-related violence, and comic depictions of death
