Middlebury Acting Company Presents:
Tartuffe
by Molière
Directed by Melissa Lourie
November 5-8 & 12-15
Middlebury Acting Company drags Tartuffe out of 17th-century Paris and drops him straight into the granite-countered, three-car-garage chaos of nouveau-riche New England — and he fits right in.

This razor-sharp modern staging trades powdered wigs for velour tracksuits, proving that religious hypocrisy, family dysfunction, and a con man's uncanny ability to talk his way into someone else's house never go out of style. Molière wrote the original influencer scam; we just gave him a Range Rover and a home gym. Come watch a 350-year-old comedy feel like it was written for 21st Century America.
Talkback: Sunday, November 8
Stay after the Sunday matinee for a talkback on Molière and the history behind Tartuffe. Molière is often called the “Shakespeare” of France, and Tartuffe is his most popular play. David Franco Arabia, Assistant Professor of French and Francophone Studies at Middlebury College, will lead the conversation with some members of the company. Audience questions are welcome.
Presented by Middlebury Acting Company, Town Hall Theater's professional resident theater company, delivering playful, intimate and conversation sparking productions since 2001.
