A Comedy of Manners
March 13 & 14, 2027 Sat and Sun 7:30pm and Sun 2:00pm $12 adults, $10 students
It is the 1970s in upstate New York and as the cocktail hour approaches, Bradley and Ann want nothing more than to unwind with a good dry martini, especially as their middle-aged son and daughter have returned for a visit. At this family reunion, however, the tension rises as their son John, an emerging playwright, cracks the cool veneer of this family’s upper-crust lifestyle as he shares that his latest play – called The Cocktail Hour – is all about them, warts and all. As more drinks are poured, the evening soon turns into a shouting match as family skeletons come out of the closet and everyone must confront the dynamics of their relationships. Winner of the Drama Desk Award for Best Play, this sparkling comedy, complete with twists of plot and two jiggers of dry wit, is a heartfelt and hilarious evening in the theatre.
