It is the summer of 1953 and George and Charlotte Hay, a pair of aging, B-list actors in Buffalo, New York, are performing Private Lives and Cyrano de Bergerac in repertory, all the while grumbling about missed Hollywood opportunities. Their careers are on the brink of collapse, but they get a chance at stardom when a famous director, Frank Capra, is rumored to be coming to see their matinee, leading to a chaotic night filled with mistaken identities, romantic entanglements, and a disastrous performance. With a plethora of pratfalls, slamming doors aplenty, and backstage shenanigans, Ken Ludwig’s (Lend Me A Tenor, Murder On The Orient Express) Moon Over Buffalo is a fast-paced, hilarious screwball comedy – a true throwback farce and valentine to the stage with larger-than-life personalities that inhabit the world of the theatre.
