John Pizzarelli Presents: Dear Mr. Bennett

A Tribute to Tony Bennett

Friday, October 9 at 7:30 PM on the historic Rothrock Main Stage

Sixty years of Tony Bennett, one song and one story at a time.

The John Pizzarelli Trio moves through Bennett’s entire arc. The ’50s pop hits, “Because of You” and “Rags to Riches.” The ’60s standards, “I Wanna Be Around” and “I Left My Heart in San Francisco.” The Bill Evans collaborations. And the ’90s revival that handed Bennett a whole new audience.

Between the songs, Pizzarelli tells stories about the man behind the catalog. The Boston Globe credits him with “reinvigorating the Great American Songbook and re-popularizing jazz,” and he has spent a career widening what that songbook holds, folding in Paul McCartney, Joni Mitchell, Neil Young, Tom Waits, Antônio Carlos Jobim, and the Beatles.

He has recorded with Rosemary Clooney, Ray Brown, Natalie Cole, Buddy DeFranco, and his father Bucky Pizzarelli. He won a Grammy in 2021 as co-producer of James Taylor’s American Standard. He co-hosts Radio Deluxe with his wife, Jessica Molaskey. And he opens the first Middlebury House of Jazz Festival.
