Brattleboro Camerata:
The Angel of Great Counsel - Renaissance England & Spain at Christmas
Camerata, from the Latin for “chamber”, is a term often used to refer to smaller ensembles that specialize in the intimate and virtuosic genre of chamber music, usually from earlier eras. The Brattleboro Camerata is just such a group - a chamber vocal ensemble devoted to exploring the craft, beauty, and transcendence of the music of the European Renaissance.
Camerata’s performances breathe life anew into ancient music, enveloping the listener in the astonishing sonic geometry of Renaissance Polyphony.
Composers:
Thomas Tallis, William Byrd, John Taverner, Cristóbal de Morales, Orlande de Lassus
