BUILDING COMMUNITY THROUGH THEATRE

October 25, 2026

October 25th is the day Alaskans celebrate and honor the African American soldiers who built the Alaska Highway during World War II.

Alaska Senate Bill 46 (SB 46) was introduced in the 28th Alaska State Legislature to formally establish October 25th of each year as African American Soldiers Who Built the Alaska Highway Day.

This October 25th, you are invited to honor these historic men at Anchorage Community Theatre (ACT). Since 2016, ACT and The Alaska Highway Project have partnered to present the firsthand accounts of the soldiers who helped win the war for America in a theatrical setting.

The men who enlisted were segregated, assigned the harshest duties, and consistently exceeded every expectation set by the U.S. Army. Theirs is an incredible story of American grit and spirit that remains largely unknown. Since SB 46 was passed in 2013, The Alaska Highway Project has worked tirelessly to bring these American heroes into the spotlight.

Don’t miss this opportunity to honor these men this October 25th. Seating is limited, and this special event is one night only!
