The Burrell Observatory is proud to host an open house program as part of the Reinhold and Margaret Kader Memorial on Friday January 29, 2027 at 7:30 PM. Dr. Rachel Bezanson, professor in the department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Pittsburgh, will present a lecture on the Meteoric Rise of Giant Galaxies. Recent images from the James Webb Telescope have revealed galaxies in the early universe much larger than the current theory predicted, calling into question our understanding of galaxy formation.
