MAGNOLIA may be Paul Thomas Anderson's most ambitious, high-concept and experimental film. Nine thematically connected stories unfold over twenty-four hours in the San Fernando Valley. Some storylines intersect, while others don't; and everything is tied together by a killer soundtrack featuring Aimee Mann and Supertramp. The film's cast includes Julianne Moore, Philip Seymour Hoffman, John C. Reilly and Tom Cruise, who received an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor. MAGNOLIA won the Golden Bear at the Berlin International Film Festival.
