| Death Differently Presents:
OTHER SIDE
Film Screening and Panel
Thursday, May 1 at 5:30pm
Death is inevitable, suffering may be optional.
Join Death Differently and Diana Barnard, M.D for the Vermont premiere of the film “Other Side,” with a Q&A to follow discussing Death With Dignity.
About "Other Side": After three separate cancer diagnoses, and undergoing nauseating and difficult treatment for each one, Connecticut-based activist Lynda Bluestein set her sights on medical aid in dying. This compassionate end-of-life option was not available in her home state, so she filed a lawsuit against the state of Vermont to gain access to their Death With Dignity law, Act 39 – and she won.
A rich portrait of a fearless activist, matriarch, and fallible human, this feature documentary follows Lynda and her family over the course of a year as they navigate life and prepare for her inevitable death. But will her life end the way she intends it to?
"Other Side" premiered at the 2025 South by Southwest Film Festival in Austin, Texas on March 7th.
Town Hall Theater is pleased to present the film’s Vermont premiere. Sponsered by Porter Medical Center.
TRIGGER WARNING: This film contains sensitive content related to end-of-life care, terminal illness, and medical aid in dying. The documentary includes scenes depicting the dying process and shows the subject's body after death. While these moments are presented respectfully and peacefully, viewers who may find such content distressing are advised to be aware of these elements before attending.

Regular Performances: Friday-Saturday at 7:30pm, Sunday at 2:00pm
Special Event: Sunday, May 11 matinee will feature a post-show talk-back with Professor Brett Millier, Reginald L. Cook Professor of American Literature at Middlebury College, discussing Edith Wharton and her work (see full bio below).
Presented by Middlebury Acting Company, Town Hall Theater's professional resident theater company, delivering playful, intimate and conversation sparking productions since 2001.
Wharton Between the Sheets takes us to Paris in 1908 and brings together Edith Wharton, her dear friend Henry James, her lover Morton Fullerton and her Irish lady’s maid in an eyebrow-raising retelling of Wharton’s actual mid-life romance. A literary and historical banquet of language, sex, mores, and manners, Between the Sheets sparkles with wit while it examines class differences and the complexity of human relationships. More than anything, the play makes us fall in love—with Edith Wharton, with the people in her life, and best of all, with her own glorious writing.
Brett Millier is the Reginald L. Cook Professor of American Literature at Middlebury College in Vermont. She is the author of Elizabeth Bishop: Life and the Memory of It, (1993) and Flawed Light: American Women Poets and Alcohol (2009), and the associate editor of The Columbia History of American Poetry (1994). She is co-editor of Adrienne Rich: Poetry and Prose (2018) and of Rich’s Selected Poems (2018), and is currently at work on a critical book about poet Ruth Stone. Prof. Millier holds a Ph.D. from Stanford University, and a B.A. from Yale, and has taught at Middlebury since 1986. | Reserve Tickets | |

| Opera Company of Middlebury Presents:
Puccini's
LA BOHÈME
June 6–14, 2025
7:30pm on June 6 & 12
2:00pm on June 8 & 14
Tickets go on sale to the general public Monday, April 14 at 12pm. [OCM Members receive early access. Visit ocmvermont.org to become a member.]
Pre-performance talks will be in the new wing at THT one hour before each show.
Opening Night Prosecco Reception to follow the performance. All are welcome. (Non-alcoholic option available.)
The story of LA BOHÈME is timeless. There have always been people who live on the fringes of society -- artists, writers, musicians -- who sacrifice much in pursuit of their art. Douglas Anderson relocates Puccini's classic to a cramped Brooklyn loft in the 1970s, not surprisingly without changing a single detail in the story. In any age, young, passionate, idealistic people set out to make their mark on the world, in spite of challenges and disappointments at every turn. As the French would say, plus ҫa change...
Fully staged and directed by Douglas Anderson, full orchestra conducted by Filippo Ciabatti.
LA BOHÈME will be performed in Italian with English supertitles
Visit the OCM website at ocmvermont.org for more information about the opera, bios of the singers and music listening suggestions.
