Acting Class and Dramatic Performance
Mondays and Wednesdays
September 24th - October 31st from 2:45 - 4:15 pm.
Join Edgar Allen Poe, the famous writer of thrillers, as he shares some of his most famous stories including “The Tell Tale Heart”, “The Black Cat”, “The Cask of Amontillado” and more. The focus of this class will be on creating three-dimensional characters and developing dramatic acting skills. This class starts with the experience of auditioning and continues with the creation of a character, memorization of lines and a full performance with costumes and makeup. All students will receive a major role in this show that is performed for the public on March 1st and 2nd at 7 pm.

January 11th - February 15th from 11 am - 12 pm.
Pirates, monsters, jungle animals, superheroes, royalty… so many creative characters to imagine and perform! In this class designed just for 3 - 5 year olds, your young actor will create a character, use their imaginations, explore what it’s like to perform and act out a new story every day. Along the way, through a variety of creative and dramatic games, students will learn theatre etiquette, develop their imagination, improve their self- confidence, and provide social interaction within an organized class setting.

Kindergarten - 2nd grade
January 25th - March 8th from 4 - 5:15 pm.
It’s Harvest Festival and the farm animals have put together their favorite stories from the year to share with the guests. The stories are spooky, mysterious, magical and always entertaining! The class instructor will work with each student to help them create a unique farm animal character. Students will then be a part of a narrated performance complete with costumes and makeup. This play will be performed on ACT’s Annex Stage on the last day of class. Each day of class, students will also have the chance to play fun theatre games that will help develop their acting skills and their ability to work with others.

There hasn’t been a mayor in Swamp Town for more than one hundred years. Ever since that incident with the alligator, the town hasn’t been able to agree on anything, much less a mayor. Can smooth talking, out of towner Klump VonBayer bring this ancient feud to an end? Or will this town full of wacky characters be more than he can handle. The class starts with the experience of auditioning and continues with the creation of a character, memorization of lines and a full performance with costumes and makeup. All students will receive a major role in this show that is performed for the public on March 16th and 17th at 7 pm.

Every actor has a song that showcases their unique voice and personality, and this class will help them find it! The class begins by finding a song that best suits each student. Then, the musical production Lean On Me will be created around the selected songs. Lean On Me centers on a group of students who find themselves in detention with a teacher who wants them all to be friends, (which is the last thing they want!) The focus of the class will be on character and performance as well as singing. All students will be featured in this original production that is performed for the public.
