Self-tape Workshop with Chris Renfro
Learn how to create self-tapes that feel confident, clear, and professional without needing a fancy setup or a full production crew in your living room. We’ll cover simple technical tips, performance choices, and how to make the whole process feel less stressful.
Chris Renfro is an Asian-American comedy writer, performer, and the current Artistic Director of UCB Los Angeles. Credits include Broadway’s “Oh, Mary!”, and “The Drowsy Chaperone” at Carnegie Hall. On screen, they can be binged on “Queer as Folk,” “The L Word: Generation Q,” “Good Trouble,” “Tom Swift,” “Reno 911!” and the MTV original movie, “Pretty Stoned.”They are the co-host of the award-winning podcast, “One of Us with Fin and Chris” where they’ve interviewed guests such as Joel Kim Booster and Margaret Cho.

A supportive workshop focused on making auditions feel less mysterious and more manageable. Participants will learn how to prepare, make strong choices, and bring more of themselves into the room.

Character Workhop with Monique Moses
This workshop is all about creating fun, specific, memorable characters through voice, movement, and point of view. A great skill for actors and comedians at all skill levels.

Monique Moses is a Canadian born writer, director and actor based in LA. She was co-head writer and a co-executive producer for Season 4 of HBO’s A Black Lady Sketch Show and has consulted on projects for Jimmy Fallon, Mike Myers and John Mulaney. She’s written for and appeared on shows for Adult Swim, HBO Max, Netflix, Peacock and as a member of all-Black comedy team Astronomy Club, co-created and starred in ‘Astronomy Club The Sketch Show’ (which premiered on Netflix in 2019 to stellar reviews). She loves loves loves writing bios (so so much), performing, making spreadsheets (truly), eating Korean BBQ and falling asleep in the sun with her dog Matsu.

Writing: SMOSH, Dropout, Melon’s House Party (Wondery), FunnyOrDie, and commercials you’ve seen. Patrick is a DJ on Radio Margaritaville and host of their interview podcast “License To Chill”. At UCB, Patrick has been a performer and director on Harold Teams and Maude Teams since 2012, when he used to spend much more money on props than he does now. He went to Emerson College. Surprise!

Zackery Alexzander Stephens is a comedy writer and performer who most recently staffed on Our Flag Means Death (HBO Max) and The Amber Ruffin Show (Peacock). Before focusing on television, Zackery spent a decade performing sketch and improvisational comedy in Chicago and New York at The Second City, iO, and UCB. They’re currently the Executive Director of the Academy of Children’s Theatre in Richland, WA.
