Beginner/Intermediate Oil Painting

ages 15 and up

Supplies to bring: 1 canvas, red, yellow and blue oil paints and a few brushes.

Class will break for a lunch in studio.  Please bring your own lunch with you.

Helen Alexander lives in Salado, TX and is an active member of the Salado Village Artists and the Public Arts League of Salado.  She came to this community in 1999 and began her journey in art. Having retired from a counseling career, she recognizes the importance of artistic creativity to stimulate and maintain a healthy life balance. Helen has had the opportunity to learn from a wide variety of artists, including Phillip Wade from Laguna Gloria in Austin, Ed Furuike of Honolulu, HI, Garnet Buster. Loretta Westerfield, Joan Hoffman, Virginia Vaughan, Guy Morrow, and many others. Each artist has enriched her ability to create and to guide others. Helen was the featured artist at the Brownwood Art Center in June and July, 2016 and at the Temple Cultural Arts Center in the Fall of 2017. Her art is featured at the Uniquely Salado Gallery. She loves to travel and use her photographs as inspiration for paintings. Helen displays her love of color in her paintings. She has a passion for encouraging others to find their creative selves.

Clay Class for Kelly & Friends 7/6 & 7/21 2-4PM 7/6 & 7/21 2-4 PM 9 2

Join us for fun in the clay studio with Lindsay!  This class will be two sessions Wednesday July 6 & Thursday July 21 from 2-4 PM.  We will create your gnomes during class 1 and for class 2, you will glaze your creations.  $50 per person includes all supplies and firing fees.

In this week long camp, kids will participate in different activities each day!

Session 1 will explore Mad Machines, Energy Burst, Movie Effects, Moving Motion, and Radical Robots!  Session 1 is from  2:00-3:00 PM

Session 2 will explore Che-Mystery, Jr. Reactors, Lab Works, Mix It Up, pH Factor!

Session 2 is from 3:15-4:15 PM

2 Mad science camps will be offered.  You can sign up for Session 1 or 2 for $80.  Or save on both camp sessions for $135!

Unplugged gaming using LEGO materials!  Level up your LEGO Engineering skills in skills in this arcade inspired experience.  Our Play-Well instructors are here to help make your favorite video game adventures a reality.  Using LEGO we can build go-karts to race Mario, blast asteroids with Star Fox, build neighborhoods with your favorite friends from Animal Crossings, and Join Link to resores peace to Hyrule,  All the fun of an arcade adventure with no screen necessary!

Thom Woodruff, the Beat Poet Laureate of Texas will host a Poetry and  Ekphrasis Wordshop for ages 10-16.  Students will learn about the relationship between art, image and poetry.  They will write, draw, create and self publish.
