This spring, join CCT for Character Clash!, a class all about creating new and exciting characters. In this class, students will explore what makes a great character and create their own. Will they be a pirate? A ninja? Maybe a wizard or superhero? Maybe all of the above? Students will enjoy playing theatre games to introduce them to drama basics as well. The class will end with a showcase of their original characters.

Kids’ Kabaret is back by popular demand! Join us for this class specially designed for our blossoming musical theatre actors in grades 1-5. In addition to covering theatrical concepts, young actors will learn songs and dances from across the Broadway canon. We will then present our revue at the end of the semester!

Specially designed for students in the middle grades, “Making a Scene” leads young performers through an exploration of the actor’s toolbox (voice, body, & imagination), with a special focus on imagination! This class will hone these skills for young actors while they devise their own short play to be performed at the end of the 10 week course. This is perfect for all those young performers who also like to make up their own stories and plays!

Middle School Acting will introduce middle school students to more advanced acting principles of approaching a formal scripted performance. Students will demonstrate an understanding of actor preparation towards performance by participating in a series of short activities culminating in entering the stage. This class will focus on monologue selection, preparation, and rehearsal. Each actor will perform one monologue as part of their final showcase.

Do you find yourself wishing a story had a different ending or constantly coming up with your own stories and characters? If so, the art of playwriting is for you! This class introduces beginner playwriting concepts  to our rising generation of playwrights. Students will create an original story with believable characters and dialogue by writing and revising an original ten-minute play. The final class will feature a showcase of dramatic readings of our ten-minute plays.

Puppet Party will focus on the design, construction and manipulation of various styles of puppets. Join our Two Toby’s as they lead this extremely creative and fun class that will cover finger puppets, hand puppets, sock puppets, rod puppets, and more! The class will conclude with a puppet show for family and friends on the last day of class

Calling all creative crafters and future Prop Masters! Are you interested in getting the inside scoop on how theatres create the props for their productions? Join us this spring for a crash course in prop creation for theatre. Students will learn several design, crafting, and construction techniques for how to make the perfect prop, and you may even see your props in one of CCT’s spring shows!

CCT’s “Theatre for the Very Young” classes are designed for our youngest actors. Students will explore their favorite stories through dance, music, art, and imaginative play. This spring, we’ll be heading “down under” to Queensland for some fun with the wildly popular children’s television and book series, Bluey!   This class will teach drama and literacy skills each week, such as improvisation and character creation, and will end with a showcase of their favorite activities from the semester.
