Join Lisa Sendler for an Adult Tap class like no other. This is a weekly crash course in basic tap designed for adults seeking to dabble in this classic art form. We will learn the fundamental techniques of tap, laugh, and enjoy learning together.

Actors in this studio will explore the basics of creating character, response and reaction and other essential exercises for actors. Students will be introduced to some of the superstars of acting techniques including Uta Hagen, Meisner, and Stanislavsky. The class will culminate with a small performance showcasing student's work.

Enter the world of live theatre directing! This studio will explore the basics of directing including theatre spaces, casting a show, blocking techniques (beats, energy cycles, etc.), how to connect to actors, basic lighting and sound and the challenges that come with directing a show. Students in the class will be required to participate as performers in other student’s work.  Students will direct and present short scenes for the final project.

Led by Columbia native, Chicago and New York actor and improviser Martha Hearn, this class will take high school performers through the basics of creating short and long form improvisational scenes. Often building scenes around audience suggestions, the actors learn to create environment, character, plot, conflict and resolution all while thinking on their feet. 

TVY: Elephant and Piggie: We Are in a Camp! 9:00-12:00 15

Dive into the world of Elephant and Piggie! Go for a drive, share your ice cream, and be a frog! There might even be a bird on your head. Taught by experienced Theatre for the Very Young educator Kathleen Pennyway, this camp will use imaginative play, stories, music and games to teach drama and literacy skills like improvisation and character creation.

Note for parents: Students need to be able to use the bathroom and wash their hands by themselves.

Welcome to the only class where you’re encouraged to bring your toys! Join experienced Theatre for the Very Young educator, Kathleen Pennyway, for a week of creative play and imagination building. Using their favorite toys and familiar stories, campers will use imaginative play, stories, music and games to learn drama and literacy skills like improvisation and character creation.

Note for parents: Students need to be able to use the bathroom and wash their hands by themselves.

Join CCT choreographer Lisa Sendler as we sing and dance along with some of Broadway’s furry friends. Throughout the week, we will learn about the basics of dance and how to follow directions, paired with free movement to music, story time, and a craft! It’s the perfect way to introduce your tot to the world of theatre and dance!

Led by Director of Education and lifelong LEGO enthusiast Paul Lindley, young designers will explore the basics of worldbuilding and set design. Using familiar stories, students will create a set model from the ground up using everyone’s favorite building material.

Note: This camp has an additional cost for materials.

This camp will introduce campers to more advanced acting principles of approaching a formal scripted performance. Students will demonstrate an understanding of actor preparation towards performance by participating in a series of short activities culminating in entering the stage.

Our popular playwriting camp with a twist for our middle school playwrights. Students will demonstrate an ability to create an original story with believable characters and dialogue by writing and revising an original ten-minute comedic scene.

This camp introduces the process of playwriting to our blossoming creatives. Students will create a script based on a story with believable characters and dialogue by writing and revising an original scene.

YE: Singing, Dancing, and All That Jazz: Musical Theatre Camp 9:00-4:00 25

9am-4pm June 17-28 @ Ebenezer Lutheran, 1301 Richland St.

This two week camp will focus on the rehearsal and performance of a musical. Under the direction of CCT Director of Education Paul Lindley, students will audition, rehearse blocking, music, and choreography, and perform their fully produced show for an audience on the last day of camp.
