Musical theatre is about more than singing the notes! Students learn to approach songs as actors by exploring lyrics, character, objectives, relationships, emotional transitions, and physical choices. This class encourages vocal expression, character development, confidence, and truthful storytelling through song.

No scripts—just fun! Students use their imaginations, take creative risks, and learn to be in the moment through energetic, game-based improvisation. Students work together to create characters, relationships, and scenes while practicing the essential improv principle of “Yes, and!” This class encourages collaboration, mental flexibility, confidence, and comedic timing.

You can’t stop the beat! Students learn foundational musical theatre dance skills and terminology while rehearsing choreography inspired by Broadway favorites. This class encourages coordination, confidence, musicality, movement retention, and storytelling through dance. No previous dance experience is required.
Each Broadway Dance session features different choreography, so students may enroll in either or both sessions.
*This is a 4 week class.

ACE your next audition! Students learn how to select, prepare, and confidently present theatrical audition material. This session focuses on monologues and musical theatre songs while developing character choices, vocal expression, focus, individuality, and professional audition-room etiquette.
*This is a 4 week class. Registration also includes the Mock Audition on Saturday, November 21.

Roll up those sleeves! Students discover how theatrical properties and scenic painting help create the world of a production. Projects may include design research, crafting, painting techniques, repurposing materials, sourcing and organizing objects, and creating functional items for the stage. Student work may be featured in Lake Country Playhouse MainStage or Academy productions.
*Special Class Experience: The October 24 class will be extended so students can attend the 10:00 a.m. performance of Dare to Dream JR. and see their work in action. Admission to the performance is included in tuition.
