Advanced Storytelling with Comics- Teen Summer Intensive

Ages 13 to 18

Learn the storytelling techniques that will take your comics to a new level! In this week-long workshop series, cartoonist Jerzy Drozd (Science Comics: Rockets, Baron von Bear and the Case of the Two-Faced Statue) will help you design unique worlds, refine your OCs, and find the storytelling moments your readers will never forget. Brace yourself for an intense and joyful journey where you'll learn what comics can do better than any other media.

Celebrate all you can be as you and your doll dance the week away! Learn dances inspired by your doll’s character and time period.  Express your individuality by creating a dance of your own. We will share our dances on the final day of the camp.

Explore the visual, ceramic, performing, and literary arts!  In this one-week camp, your young creative will get the chance to stretch their artistic muscles and try a variety of styles of art. Students will work with professional artists and art educators for a week full of exploratory activities in the arts. Each day will include art classes and recreational pool time at Worthington Pools.

In this full day camp, your child will explore the visual, performing, and literary arts!  In this one-week camp, your creative-minded kid will get the chance to stretch their artistic muscles and try a variety of styles of art. Students will work with professional artists and art educators for a week full of exploratory activities in the arts. Each day will include art classes and an extended recreational pool time at Worthington Pools.

Dance Me A Story (BalletMet)

Our time together will be filled with dancing, make believe and arts and crafts as we expore an assortment of books that inspire movement. Combining costumes, props and a little imagination, we will bring will bring our stories to life for Share Day on the last day.

Foundations of Drawing- Teen Summer Intensive

Whether you’re just starting out drawing or working up to your first college studio course, this camp is an excellent way for teens to focus in on the foundational building blocks of drawing.  Students will focus on the basics of drawing, building technical skills, and learning how to see yourself as an artist. Students will gain confidence working with various tools including pencil, charcoal, and ink.  You will learn how to draw from still life, photographs, and nature/buildings en plein air! All supplies are provided for this weeklong intensive camp.

Learn Basic Machine Sewing/ Make Your Own Pajamas- Teen Summer Intensive

In this intensive, you will learn students will learn the basics in machine sewing, basic body measurements and working with pattern pieces. Students will then will create an original set of pajamas. By the end of the week students will have made their very own comfy PJ’s!

Let’s Write Together

In this week-long camp, we will explore fiction, poetry, and playwriting. Each camper will work on generating ideas that they are interested in and care about. They will learn about the grammar and formatting that goes into each type of writing. And they will do all of this while having fun with group storytelling and games, writing prompts, journaling, reading, and sharing our stories with each other. Throughout the week, they will build relationships with their peers through creating and sharing together. By the end of the week, each camper will go home with a journal full of ideas and stories, poems, and scripts that they have begun and some that they have finished.

In this 3-day intensive camp, we will focus on creating characters, world building, and story ideas to write your own Choose Your Own Adventure book. We will start organizing our ideas, mapping storylines, and talking about how to organize the book. The 3 days will include games and group activities to stretch our creative muscles. By the end of camp, we will have started writing the story.

Portrait and Figure Drawing- Teen Summer Intensive

In this weeklong intensive, students will explore all aspects of portraiture and figure drawing. Learn proportions of the face and how to capture a likeness both when drawing from a photograph and when drawing from a live model. Students explore portraiture through the mediums of colored pencil, charcoal, and pen and ink. Supplies are provided for this camp, and a live model will be present for two class sessions.

Textile Block Printing and Tote Bag Construction- Teen Summer Intensive

Ages 13 to 18

In this intensive, you will learn how to design and carve your own custom fabric yardage using block printing and continuous repeated patterning. Students will then learn basic machine sewing techniques and will create an original tote bag using their own one of a kind cotton yardage.

Writing Your Own Book Series

Whether you already have an idea or need ideas, in this 3-day intensive camp we will create interesting characters, fantastical worlds, and intricate stories worthy of multiple books. Be prepared to stretch your creative muscles as we play group games and activities and brainstorm, map, and write your own unique book series.
