04/01 Composition and the Sketchbook. Turning sketches into finished paintings Age 15+ (WS26CB3) Wednesdays 4/01-4/22 5:30pm-7:30pm. Room:213. Price: $175.95 15 15

Using pencils, markers and gouache (opaque watercolor), we learn to take our ideas from a line sketch, to value study, and finally into color with gouache (opaque watercolor). Emphasis is placed on line and value in the design stages (grey scale), and learning to explore various ideas before choosing one to be worked out in gouache (color). This class can be taken more than once building on previous knowledge. It can also be taken as a one off. No pre-requisites are required. This will be combining concepts from my previous sketchbook and gouache painting classes into one class. Ages 15+ unless permission is given by the instructor. Please reach out with questions.

04/08 Rosario: Drawing from Nature II Age 18+ (WS26HR13) Wednesdays 4/08-5/13 10am-12pm. Room: 117B. Price: $284.62 8 5

Nature is often the best teacher, especially when it comes to drawing and painting. This class uses live plants, flowers, fruits, and vegetables as still life subjects to teach observational drawing skills. During the course, we'll explore drawing materials and wet media including but not limited to: graphite, charcoal, watercolor, and illustration markers. This class includes one day of off-site drawing(location TBD) where we meet to draw from nature locally. 04/13 Studio Landscape Painting in Oil Age 18+ (WS26MG5) Mondays 4/13-5/18 7pm-9pm. Room: 213. Price: $248.40 15 11

This course emphasizes the principles of design, composition, perspective, and color in landscape painting. Students will work in oil from photographic reference, while advanced painters may also develop larger works from plein air studies. Instruction is tailored to all levels, from beginner to advanced, and the course may be repeated to further strengthen skills and personal style.

2/04 Co-op: Figure Studio - Wednesday Mornings Age 18+ (WS26CO-OP1) Wednesdays 2/04-5/20 9:30am-12:30pm. Room: 213. Price: $165.60 15 3

The Wednesday Morning Figure Co-op offers the opportunity to work from life, working with experienced nude figure models. No critique or instruction is provided. Co-op members with diverse levels of artistic background bring drawing or painting materials of their choice and work independently in a relaxed, collegial atmosphere. Easels, workbenches and tables are provided. A model fee of $10 is collected at each three-hour session. If work-space permits, those enrolled in any of the three drawing and painting co-ops (Wednesday morning figure, Thursday evening figure, Friday morning portrait) are welcome to attend the other two studio co-ops, paying the model fee for sessions they attend. 2/05 Co-op: Figure Studio - Thursday Evenings Age 18+ (WS26CO-OP2) Thursdays 2/05-5/21 6:30pm-9:30pm. Room: 213. Price: $165.60 15 9

The Thursday Evening Figure Co-op offers artists with daytime commitments the opportunity to study from life, working with experienced nude figure models. No critique or instruction is provided. Co-op artists with diverse levels of artistic backgrounds bring drawing or painting materials of their choice and the ability to work independently in a relaxed, collegial atmosphere. Easels, work benches and tables are provided. Three-hour sessions begin with a few gesture poses followed by one long pose for concentrated study. Occasionally the artist group decides to vary the routine with a gestures-only session, or a two-week pose. A model fee of $10 is collected at each session for 3 hours of work with experienced figure models. It is the practice that people registered for any of the three Maryland Hall drawing/painting co-ops (Wednesday morning figure/Thursday evening figure/Friday morning portrait) are welcome to attend sessions of the other two co-ops by paying the model fee for sessions they attend, but artists should register for the Co-op they intend to use the most. *High school artists 16 and older are allowed to participate in this session with the following requirements:
· Portfolio
· Parental permission
· Recommendation of art teacher
· Life drawing experience

2/06 Co-op: Portrait Studio - Friday Mornings Age 18+ (WS26CO-OP3) Fridays 2/06-5/22 9:30am-12:30pm. Room: 213. Price: $165.60 15 0

The Friday Morning Portrait Co-op offers opportunity to work from life in a relaxed, collegial atmosphere. Our diverse models include professionals as well as subjects new to posing for portraiture. Easels, workbenches and tables are provided. Co-op members with various levels of artistic background bring drawing or painting materials of their choice to work independently at their own pace, without instruction. A modest $10 model fee is collected at each three-hour session. Management of our Portrait Co-op sessions is rotated among experienced members of the studio. If work-space permits, those enrolled in any of the three drawing and painting Co-ops (Wednesday morning figure, Thursday evening figure, Friday morning portrait) are welcome to attend the other two studio Co-ops, paying the model fee for sessions they attend.
