Co-op artists with diverse levels of artistic backgrounds bring drawing or painting materials of their choice and the ability to work independently in a relaxed, collegial atmosphere. Easels, work benches and tables are provided. Three-hour sessions begin with a few gesture poses followed by one long pose for concentrated study. Occasionally the artist group decides to vary the routine with a gestures-only session, or a two-week pose. A model fee of $10 is collected at each session for 3 hours of work with experienced figure models. It is the practice that people registered for any of the three Maryland Hall drawing/painting co-ops (Wednesday morning figure/Thursday evening figure/Friday morning portrait) are welcome to attend sessions of the other two co-ops by paying the model fee for sessions they attend, but artists should register for the Co-op they intend to use the most. *High school artists 16 and older are allowed to participate in this session with the following requirements:

| 2/28 Portrait Painting and Mixing Skin Tones for Beginners Age 14+ (WS26NT1) | Saturday 2/28 9:30am-4:30pm. Room:213. Price: $94.19 | 12 | 12 | The primary focus of the workshop will be on mixing realistic skin tones. Students will learn how to mix multiple tones from light to darker skin tones, and will also learn how light and shadow affects skin tone temperature. Nicole will instruct the class on how she organizes her color palette while including color theory into her skin tone mixing methods that best facilitate painting the portrait in an efficient manner. Some instruction on facial proportions will be discussed, but a majority of the workshop will have a strong focus on learning to paint skin tones that don't look artificial, too orange or cold, but on the contrary, bring life to the subject. Since time is limited and because this is a beginners workshop, students will be allowed to transfer a portrait to their support with a photo reference provided by the instructor ( or a student's own photo reference.
