| MCPKids! presents Disney's Mean Girls Jr. | 8:00am-3:00pm | 25 | 9 | The Plastics have deemed Broadway Junior worthy of their presence in Mean Girls JR! This "fetch" musical from book writer Tina Fey (30 Rock), lyricist Nell Benjamin (Legally Blonde) and composer Jeff Richmond (Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt) is packed with keen wit, an undeniably catchy score, and a sincere message for everyone.
Cady Heron may have grown up on an African savanna, but nothing prepared her for the wild and vicious ways of her strange new home: suburban Illinois. How will this naïve newbie rise to the top of the popularity pecking order? By taking on The Plastics, a trio of lionized frenemies led by the charming but ruthless Regina George. Cady and her friends devise a "Revenge Party" to end Regina’s reign with Cady going undercover as an aspiring Plastic. When the lines between the real Cady and her Plastic self get blurred, she must find her way back to herself and her true friends.
MCPKids! is excited to present its production summer camp for students in grades 9-12. This summer we are performing Mean Girls Jr. with permission from Music Theatre International, Inc. Due to licensing restrictions, students over the age of 18 are unable to participate in this show. The director for the show will be Danny Gay.
Camp dates are August 2-August 16, with camp hours 8-3 Mon-Fri both weeks. Performances will be 7pm on August 14, and 2pm on August 15 and 16. We are still working on a space for rehearsals and performances, though we hope that this will be at Winthrop Schools, as they were last year. We will update everyone as soon as we have locations confirmed, but right now they are TBD.
Before care will be offered from 7:00-8:00 and after care from 3:00-4:00. Both before care and after care are separate costs, at $100 each. Students are expected to bring their own food and snacks for rehearsals (food is not provided) as we are not certified to provide food.
Tuition for the 2 week camp is $375.00. A deposit of $50 is expected at sign up, and the rest of the tuition and before/after care payments are due in late May/early June at auditions (date TBD). Tuition and deposit will be non-refundable after the date of auditions. If you think you might withdraw and want a refund, please request this before May 1. If you want more information about MCPKids! scholarships, please also email for more information: mcpkidsmaine@gmail.com
If you have any questions or need help signing up, or if your student is going into grades 9-12, but you are unable to register due to the age restriction, please reach out to our Education Director, Danny Gay at mcpkidsmaine@gmail.com. |

| MCPKids! presents Welcome to Candy Kingdom | 9:00am-3:00pm | 30 | 20 | We guarantee you won’t find a sweeter play than Welcome to Candy Kingdom! This colorful land, including Peppermint Acres, Lollipop Forest, Bubblegum Pass and more, is where all the discarded candy goes to be loved and stay fresh forever.
But the Candy Apple family finds themselves in a sticky situation — too much taffy to be allowed in Fruitopia, but too much fruit to be on the approved candy list for Candy Kingdom. They must undertake a perilous journey across the land to petition King and Queen Candybar to allow them to stay. Luckily, they have Jawbreaker and Lifesaver to lead them. Along the way, they encounter helpful candy friends and uncover a nasty plot by Baron Von Licorice to seize control of Candy Kingdom. Can the villainous baron’s coup be foiled? And will the Candy Apple family find a welcoming place they can call home?
Sprinkled with puns and tons of fun, the script even provides classic melodrama villain and chase music to add a delightful flavor to your production. And the super-flexible cast and incredibly simple staging make this show a treat that everyone will love!
