Matilda Jr. 5:30-7:30pm 25 23

MCPKids! is excited to launch its next teen production. We are proud to present Matilda Jr. This show will be co-directed by Danny Gay and Mary Melquist. This show is an adaptation of the Matilda story by Roald Dahl. Registration is open now through December 15th. Vaccination is REQUIRED for all students to participate in this production. All crew will also be vaccinated.

From MTI: Rebellion is nigh in Matilda JR., a gleefully witty ode to the the anarchy of childhood and the power of imagination! This story of a girl who dreams of a better life and the children she inspires will have audiences rooting for the "revolting children" who are out to teach the grown-ups a lesson.

Matilda has astonishing wit, intelligence... and special powers! She's unloved by her cruel parents but impresses her schoolteacher, the highly loveable Miss Honey. Matilda's school life isn't completely smooth sailing, however – the school's mean headmistress, Miss Trunchbull, hates children and just loves thinking up new punishments for those who don't abide by her rules. But Matilda has courage and cleverness in equal amounts, and could be the school pupils' saving grace!

Packed with high-energy dance numbers and catchy songs, Matilda JR. is a joyous girl power romp. Children and adults alike will be thrilled and delighted by the story of the special little girl with an extraordinary imagination.

There are 19 named roles, and additional ensemble parts available. If we have expanded interest, I will open up more spots for the show, for a maximum of 30 students.

Auditions will be Saturday December 18th at Cumston Hall, 796 Main St, Monmouth, ME 04259. Rehearsals and performances will also take place at Cumston Hall. Rehearsals are Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 5:30-7:30pm. Rehearsals will begin on Tuesday Jan 4th. The last week of rehearsals, beginning February 14th, will be every night from 5:30-we finish for tech week. There will be 4 performances of the show, Friday Feb 18 at 7pm, Saturday Feb 19 at 2pm and 7pm, and Sunday Feb 19 at 2pm.

The cost of the tuition is $150 per student with a $25 discount for additional siblings. Tuition helps to pay the staff and to pay for show costs. If you plan to sign up more than 1 student, after adding your first student, continue shopping to add your second student. Students cannot be added to a class until you agree to the general liability release for the Monmouth Community Players.
