Acting for the Stage 4:50 - 5:50pm 15 15

AGES 9-11 THURSDAYS 

A class focusing on the fundamentals of being a stage actor - being seen, heard and not bumping into the furniture. Topics will include how to warm up, cheating out and space awareness, vocal projection and diction, filling the space, acting with truth and intention, and scene analysis. The essential tune up for every young actor.

Art-tastic Acrobatics 4:50 - 5:50pm 15 15

AGES 6-8 WEDNESDAYS

Creativity, Coordination, Strength, Flexibility and Fun!

Each week our Artsey Acrobats will start class by designing amazing mixed media masterpieces in the style of multiple artists: VanGogh, Mondrian, Picasso, Monet and More! Then Acrobatic Skill Stations will be practiced emphasizing the movement, lines and shapes of the Artwork created earlier in class.

Rehearsals begin January 5 and will be held Mondays and Thursdays, 4:30 - 6:20 pm. Tech rehearsal is Saturday, March 7, and there will be daily rehearsals 4 - 8 pm March 9-11.

A circus arts extravaganza, featuring juggling, acrobatics, balancing, plate spinning, object manipulation and other age-appropriate circus skills. Experience not necessary - this is a safe and supportive place to develop your circus skills regardless of your level of experience.

A chance for actors (and circus performers) to build their apparatus-based ground circus skills, including juggling, rola bola, diabolo, flower stick, rolling globe, unicycle and more. These skills may seem impossible at first, but with practice and perseverance the impossible will become reality!

Commedia dell' Arte 6:30 - 8:30pm 15 14

An introduction to the characters, style and world of the Commedia dell’ Arte, a 16th century Italian masked comic form which has impacted comedy ever since. Fast-paced, physical, irreverent and revolutionary, Commedia will play a big role in this Spring’s Teen Rep production. This is a great opportunity to get a head start on the spring, and to learn where the roots of so much contemporary comedy come from.

Foundations to Performance: Teen Acting Intensive 6:30 - 8:30pm 15 13

This 6-week intensive deepens students’ acting skills through monologues, scene and ensemble work. Actors will strengthen vocal clarity, physical presence and emotional truth while learning to use their voices as powerful storytelling tools. Ideal for anyone looking to gain confidence with both classical and contemporary material.

Become revolting children in this highly focused musical theater class. Students will sing, dance, and act through multiple songs from the musical “Matilda,” culminating in a short share day showcase.

Please note that this is not a production of Matilda, the Musical, but a musical theater class focussing on songs, dances and scenes from the musical.

We’ll take some familiar stories featuring famous "Jacks" and turn them into short plays. We will use Jack Frost, Jack & the Beanstalk and Jack & Jill. Students will learn about character development/character arc and the realm of magic and fantasy.
