Join Marcie for an afternoon of creativity as we dive into the basics of watercolor! You’ll master key techniques like creating bright whites, controlling water, glazing, and designing beautiful, dynamic backgrounds. Whether you're a seasoned artist or a first-time painter, you’ll walk away with a stunning Orange Watercolor Tulip and a whole lot of new skills to show off. Try It: Spring Mosaic with Sushila Anderson 10 0

Try It: Spring Mosaic with Sushila Anderson: Saturday, April 5th 10 AM - 12 PM. Learn how to cut glass with glass nippers and create a spring themed design on mosaic coasters. You will create two, 4-inch coasters, and learn how to grout in class. Students will have the option of painting grout at home. This class is great for beginners! (You must wear closed toe shoes!) Tuition: Member - $45, Non-Member - $49. 

T-Shirt Quilt Class 10 10

T-Shirt Quilt Class: Member $55, Non-Member $65. April 12 and 26 from 10:30 AM - 1 PM.

Have you ever wanted to put together a simple T-Shirt Quilt? This class is for you! You will learn how to prepare the t-shirts, cut the blocks, add sashing and sew them into a quilt. Different methods of finishing off the quilt will be discussed and shown.

Skill level: Basic sewing skills. All lines are straight lines. We will be using a rotary cutter to cut blocks. These skills will be taught in the first class.

Age Level: Anyone with basic sewing skills. Ages 8-16 will need an adult to help with the use of the rotary cutter to cut blocks.

Supplies needed: Students must provide their own supplies and materials! (For amounts please see chart!)

First Class: T-shirts, Interfacing (see chart below), iron and iron pad, rotary cutter, cutting mat, 12.5x12.5 or 15x15 square quilt template. Fabric to practice rotary cutting if you have never used one.

Second Class: sewing machine, thread, pins or clips, fabric scissors, Rotary cutter and matt, Fabric for sashing (optional) chart for amounts depending on size of finished quilt desired. Instructor will have a few tools to share. The Paradise has some Sewing machines and iron and ironing boards to share. There will be some work that needs to be done between classes. Amount will be determined by what size quilt you decide to do.

Beginning Stained Glass for 45+ with Sandra Sargent 10 0

Beginning Stained Glass for 45+ with Sandra Sargent: Class meets Saturdays, April 19th, 26th & May 3rd from 10AM - 2PM. (There will be a 30-minute break for lunch!) Participants will learn to make a beautiful window display using the copper foil technique originally developed by John La Farge and Louis Comfort Tiffany. Students will learn to score and cut their glass, they will learn about grinding, foiling, and soldering techniques as well! Students will work with Sandra to decide what they wish to create! No experience is necessary & tools and glass are included! Tuition: Member: $120, Non-Member: $144. (Scholarships Available!) 

Quilt In A Day with Julie Fakler 6 6

Quilt in A Day with Julie Fakler: Saturday April 19, 10:00am – 4:00pm, 30 minutes for lunch. For beginners. Ages 16 and up. Member $55/ Non-Member $66. Supply fee $25. Create a throw size quilt in one day! Students will learn how to piece a quilt top, assemble the three layers of the quilt (top, batting, and back), and tie the quilt. Students will be given precut squares, batting, and quilt back. Students will learn how to sew the quilt squares together using a sewing machine and how to iron the quilt top. All three layers will be sewn together and tied. Students will leave class with a finished throw size quilt, approximately 42”x57”. This is a perfect size for a baby quilt, or a throw for the couch. Kits will be provided and include everything you need to create your quilt. Instructor: Julie Fakler.

Bring a lunch to class. Students will be using a sewing machine and iron. No rotary blades, fabric will be precut. Fabric donated by Pat Jarrett. Must be registered by April 10. 

Fine Silver Fusing Earring Class with Jessica Prill (45+) 4 4

Fine Silver Fusing Earring Class with Jessica Prill (45+) - Saturday, April 26th from 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM. Unleash your creativity in this exciting hands-on workshop where you'll create a stunning pair of fine silver earrings! In this beginner-friendly class, you'll dive into the art of silversmithing and master the fundamentals of silver fusing. Using a small flame, you'll learn how to melt fine silver into a liquid state and fuse it into a one-of-a-kind design that’s all your own. Whether you're new to silversmithing or looking to explore a new craft, this class is the perfect introduction to working with metal and fire. Guiding you through the process is Jessica Prill, a talented silversmith with 15 years of experience and the creator behind Jessica Leigh Designs. She’ll share her expertise and passion for the craft as you bring your own unique creations to life. Tuition: Member - $45, Non-Member - $50. (Supplies are included, and class is offered through a grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board!) 

Oil on Canvas - Person on Cliff with Marcie Hayunga 8 6

Oil on Canvas - Person on Cliff with Marcie Hayunga: Saturday, April 26th 1:00 - 4:00 PM. Ready to create a stunning landscape with oils? Join Marcie for an afternoon of fun and technique as you paint a dramatic scene of a person on a cliff! Using an 11x14 stretched canvas and a limited palette, you’ll explore the soothing techniques inspired by Bob Ross—yes, you can paint those majestic trees, rocky cliffs, and reflective waters too! Whether you’re a seasoned painter or new to oils, this class will show you just how simple it is to create a masterpiece. Note: The painting will need a few days to fully dry, so be sure to bring something to safely transport your new creation home! Wear your painting clothes, and get ready to relax, laugh, and unleash your inner artist! Tuition: Members: $50, Non-Members: $56 (Includes $20 supply fee!)

Spring Raku Firing 12 6

Raku Firing: Member $45, Non-Member $55, raku clay 25lb. for $54 or 5lb. for $15. Tuition includes the Make It class, Raku Glazing class, and the Raku firing.

Raku Make It Class: April 17, 5:30pm-7:30pm at the Paradise Center for the Arts 321 Central Avenue N. Faribault.

Students can create their pieces during the Make It class on April 17 at the Paradise Pottery Studio. Raku clay must be purchased at the Paradise: 25lb. for $54 or 5lb. for $15. Pieces must be dry and at the Paradise by April 24 for the bisque firing.

Raku Glazing Class

May 1, 5:30pm-7:30pm at the Paradise Center for the Arts 321 Central Avenue N. Faribault.

Students will glaze their pieces at the Raku Glazing class May 1 st . A variety of raku glazes and under glazes will be available.

Raku Firing

May 10, 8:30am at Dianne Lockerby’s.

Raku Firing will be held at Dianne Lockerby’s from 8:30am until finished. The clay pots & sculptures will be loaded in the raku kiln; kiln temps are rapidly increased to 1800-1900 Degrees F. Once the glazes melt & smooth out, the pieces are individually removed from the kiln. Pieces are placed in a metal can filled with combustible materials and the hot pot causes the combustibles to create flames. A tight-fitting lid on the can smothers those flames, and the resulting smoke can cause colors to appear on the pots. Students will leave with their finished glazed pieces.

*Participants must wear cotton clothing (no polyester or spandex) and leather shoes/boots (no sandals). Fire precautions will be taken, and a waiver will need to be signed by each participant. Lunch on May 10 th will be a potluck.

Must be registered by April 17.
