| The Faribault Community Print Project With Artist Stephen McKenzie | | 30 | 30 | The Faribault Community Print Project with Artist Stephen McKenzie: "Printmaking puts the Unity in Community!" The purpose of this free, grant-funded project will be to use printmaking as a vehicle for strengthening community bonds with the art center and vice versa! The proposed group project consists of creating a large-scale print-based art work using the monotype or painterly-print process. This type of printmaking needs no technical training, the only requirement is being able to use a paint brush; then the image is transferred with pressure to another surface. The printing of a monotype generally results in only one image.
Session #1 Saturday, April 18th from 10:30 AM - 12:30 PM:To begin, there will be an introduction of the project followed by a discussion of the details and expectations for those who agree to participate. Following that is a hands-on workshop where participants make small monotype prints, which they keep. Session #1 will be held at the Paradise Center for the Arts! (321 Central Ave. N Faribault, MN 55021)
Session #2 Saturday, May 16th, Starting at 10:30 Am:In the second part of the project, participants meet and spend a day, about six hours, making a monotype print that will be five feet by 7 feet. When the project is completed the print will hang in the art center for a period of time. LOCATION TBD!
Stephen McKenzie is a fiscal year 2025 recipient of a Creative Individuals grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board. This activity is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board, thanks to a legislaive appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund. |
