Youth Improv Club Mondays, January 12th - March 23rd (no class Feb. 16th), 4:00 P.M. - 5:00 P.M. 12 11

Youth Improv Club allows kids to strengthen their skills surrounding thinking on their feet, collaborative performance and problem-solving. Through games and exercises, students will learn valuable skills that are applicable in both performance environments as well as their daily lives. 

Storytelling: Find Your Voice Tuesdays, January 13th - March 24th (no class Feb. 17th), 4:00 P.M. - 5:00 P.M. 12 11

We all have stories to tell! In this class, students will learn the art of storytelling and public speaking through a mix of classic tales and personal experiences. Together, we’ll reimagine a well-known fairytale as a group performance and craft short, true stories inspired by our own lives—think The Moth for kids! Along the way, we’ll strengthen stage presence, character work, voice, and physicality to build confident, expressive speakers ready to tell stories around any campfire (or stage). This class session will culminate in a storytelling showcase where the class will present the group story and some of their own stories as individuals and small groups.

Technique & Scene Study Tuesdays, January 13th - March 24th (no class Feb. 17th), 10:00 A.M. - 12:00 P.M. 10 7

Adult Ensemble is designed for students who have a foundational understanding of theater and wish to further develop their skills. This course offers a comprehensive exploration of performance techniques, character development, and script analysis. Students will engage in various exercises and activities that enhance their abilities in voice, movement, and improvisation. Through scene study and collaborative projects, participants will have the opportunity to apply their knowledge and creativity in a supportive environment. This class encourages students to challenge themselves, refine their craft, and gain confidence in their artistic expression.

Staging a Picture Book Wednesdays, January 14th - March 25th (no class Feb. 18th), 4:00 - 5:00 P.M. 12 11

What if your favorite picture book could come to life on stage? In this collaborative, hands-on class, we’ll work together to adapt a story into a mini performance. Students will explore character choices, costumes, props, and simple staging as they bring a beloved book to life. No prior theater experience required—just imagination, teamwork, and a love of stories! This class session will culminate in a staged mini performance of the picture book come to life!

Teen Scene Study Wednesdays, January 14th - March 25th (No class Feb. 18th), 5:00 P.M. - 6:30 P.M. 15 14

Teen Scene Study is the ideal acting class for tweens and teens seeking to develop their acting skills and confidence in a fun, supportive environment. This program focuses on exploring scene work, helping students develop a deeper understanding of character, dialogue, and storytelling. Designed specifically for teens, the studio offers a collaborative space where participants can refine their craft while working alongside their peers. Whether you're new to acting or already experienced, this class is a perfect way to build connections, advance your craft, and stay involved in the arts community this fall.

Act One Musical Theater Ensemble Thursdays, January 15th - March 26th (no class Feb. 19th), 4:00 P.M. - 5:00 P.M. 12 5

Is your child bursting with energy and a love for singing and dancing? Act One Musical Theater Ensemble is a fun and engaging 10-week program designed specifically for children aged 6-10. Through games and activities, your young performer will learn acting, singing, and dancing in a supportive and nurturing environment. No prior experience needed—just a love for performing. Help them take their first steps into the world of musical theater today!

Act Two Musical Theater Ensemble Thursdays, January 15th - March 26th (no class Feb. 19th), 5:00 P.M. - 6:00 P.M. 15 14

Step confidently into the spotlight with our Act Two Musical Theater Ensemble! This 10-week program is crafted to nurture creativity, self-expression, and confidence in young actors aged 10-14. Participants gain valuable skills like acting, singing, and dancing while experiencing the joy of performing. Every session brings an opportunity to explore scenes and songs from beloved Broadway hits, helping students develop a love for collaboration and teamwork. Whether enhancing prior experience or serving as an introduction to the art of musical theater, this class offers the perfect platform to grow as both performers and individuals.

Intro to Theatre (Term A) Thursdays, January 15th - March 5th (no class Jan. 26th and Feb. 19th), 10:00 A.M. - 12:00 P.M. 10 7

Intro to Theater offers a weekly one-hour class designed for those intrigued by the performing arts, eager to enhance their acting skills, or seeking new social connections. Participants will delve into fundamental acting techniques, engage in improv games, acting exercises, and monologue work.

Encore Ensemble: Adult Musical Theater Saturdays, January 17th - March 28th (no class Feb. 21st), 10:00 A.M. - 12:00 P.M. 15 13

Explore storytelling through the lens of musical theater! Singers and actors of any experience are welcome to this class. We will range from learning musical solos and duets to strengthening audition material. Students in this class will have the chance to research and pick songs from a wide range of musical theater material, including shows such as Into the Woods, Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella, Fun Home, Come From Away and more! Students may also bring musical theater material from their own audition book or repertoire to work on if they’d like. We will work with an accompanist to bring the music to life and then work through character motivation and understanding of song structure. 

Puppet Performance Sundays, January 18th - March 29th (no class Feb. 15th), 12:00 P.M. - 1:00 P.M. 10 10

Welcome to Puppet Performance! In this class, we will learn about the various forms of puppetry that are used in theatrical productions, including shadow puppets, marionettes, ventriloquist dummies and more! Students will get the chance to craft puppets with their imagination and the aim to use them in a final showcase performance! Along with puppet performance, this class will act as an acting challenge for those committed to learning how to convincingly perform with a puppet as well as how to perform for younger audiences. 

Generations in Verse Fridays, February 6th - March 20th (No class Feb. 20th), 4:00 P.M. - 5:30 P.M. 10 5

Generations in Verse is BACK! Join our intergenerational spoken word poetry group, facilitated by former poet laureate of Portland, Maine, Maya Williams. Learn to write, refine, and perform impactful poetry while connecting with others. Participants will work on their pieces and contribute to a collective performance for the end of the program. The program ends with a live ticketed performance on March 20th at the Playhouse, where you’ll showcase your growth. Open to anyone 10 and older, this program encourages storytelling, self-expression, and building confidence. Whether you're experienced or a beginner, you’ll leave feeling inspired and proud of others and yourself.

First Stage (Term A) Saturdays, March 7th - March 21st, 9:00 A.M. - 10:00 A.M. 10 10

First Stage is an early childhood theater class for kids curious about theater. Broken into a 3-week session, the class allows kids a chance to have fun and sample a variety of theater activities. In each section students play theater games, sing, dance, hear stories, and practice acting on stage. All sessions are unique, so they can be taken as stand-alone programs, or consecutively.

Costuming for Community Theater Saturdays, March 21st - April 25th, 12:00 P.M. - 1:30 P.M. 10 10

Costuming for Community Theater offers individuals the opportunity to work with local costume designer Anna Halloran on how to develop a design plot for a show and what to prepare as a designer. Students will walk through production prep and work up to their own visions and costume plans for a variety of productions.
