Actor's Workshop-Sorensen

February 2, 16, and March 2 from 2pm - 4pm

This workshop is designed to develop basic acting skills through a variety of creative activities. Relaxation techniques, vocal exercises, acting games, and scene studies will be a component of each session.  In addition, over the three sessions each student will develop and present a short monologue which could be used as and audition piece.

Basket Making - McCarthy 10 7

March 2 from 10am – 1pm

Create a 6 in. egg basket. This basket is ribbed, woven with flat reed and of the Appalachian style. Participants should bring an old towel, a measuring tape, sharp scissors and a spray bottle. With Ellen McCarthy.

Explore (Perspective) Drawing - Anderson

February 2nd and 9th - 10am - 2pm

Drawing is a skill and expression that can go anywhere easily and is life-long enjoyment. This all levels drawing class offers an opportunity to learn more about drawing and time to practice your current skills. Using pencil, charcoal and drawings pens to draw from life and photos, the class will explore ways to create the illusion of three dimension and depth, including perspective techniques. Materials required are a 2B pencil, easer, drawing pen (any fine point felt tip pen) and a ruler.  Bring your own sketch book; materials will be available. All levels of experience (16 and older) are welcome. With Mary Anderson.

Improving your Watercolor Paintings - Brown

March 23 & 30, 10am - 2pm

This class will be open for all levels of skill building.  Be prepared to immerse yourself in these two classes for taking your paintings to the next higher level of watercolors. Students should bring their watercolor supplies, list will be provided upon registration. With Judson Brown.

Play Study - Heary

March 6th from 6:30 - 9:00 pm

Staged play reading on 4/26 at 7pm

Facilitated by Edwin F. Heary with guest speakers. Work with other actors and directors to read the classic play Death of a Salesman. Participants will work on character development and conclude with a staged reading. Free.

 

Printmaking - Anderson

May 11th and 18th from 10am – 2pm

Experience the process of Printmaking – making pictures or designs by inking blocks and pulling the image onto paper. Using linoleum block printing techniques, participants will work at their level to produce one color or two-color prints. Participants with more experience can try different techniques such as reduction printing or pattern printing. You can create your own personal greeting cards or an addition of your print. Class will be limited to 8 persons, 16 and older. All materials will be provided at the cost of $60/52 member.
