Class Calendar
Students will attend class on Mondays or Thursdays depending on their availability. Class dates will be set at the first group meeting.
Rehearsal & Festival Location: Cultural Arts Center (909 S Saint Andrews St., Dothan, AL)
Festival Dates: November 7-10 (SEACT will compete on one of these days)
Cost: $125 per student
Additional Event Fee: $30 per event
Description: Receive coaching from passionate teaching artists for SEACT's TheatreFest (Nov. 7-11), our local theatre competition in which students will compete for top placements and receive feedback from highly-qualified adjudicators. Event categories include:
- Monologue
- Duologue
- 10-Minute Play
- Musical Theatre Solo
- Musical Theatre Duet
- Musical Group
- Technical Theatre (scenic, prop, costume, and makeup design)

| Playwriting with Brianna Lewis | Tuesdays, Nov. 5-19, 6:00 PM | Dates: Tuesdays, Nov. 5, Nov. 12, Nov. 19

Suggested Ages: 16+
Description: Learn the basics of playwriting and create original work with a supportive community of theatre artists! This class is intended for mature high schoolers and adults. On Nov. 12th, you will attend the Wiregrass Museum of Art’s Write Night to hear what local writers are creating.
Cost: $75 per student

Description: Romeo. Juliet. Hamlet. Lady Macbeth. Get the best acting training around by performing some of the greatest comedic and dramatic scenes ever written. You will be paired with a partner and assigned a scene from one of Shakespeare's 38 iconic plays. Discover how fun, rich, and HUMAN Shakespeare can be!

Description: Want to become a better dancer and ace your next musical theatre dance audition? Look no further than the Mastering Movement workshop. In this class, you will explore two key areas--basic ballet and foundational movement, including common dance steps that you’ll see in most choreography. Build your confidence and never fear the dance call again!

| Audition Masterclass | Saturday, December 7, 2-5 PM | Dates: Saturday, December 7
Times: 2:00-5:00 PM
Ages: 10-18
Description: Practice effective auditioning techniques and learn about resumes, repertoires, and headshots! Students will prepare and present a 60-second monologue or 16-bar Musical Theatre cut, practice cold reading and self-tapes, and learn about the industry from professional actors. All students will leave with a new, high-quality headshot.

| Private Coaching | | Register for one-on-one acting coaching with SEACT Program Manager and MFA-trained actor Billy Hutto. Billy will shape each hour-long session around your personal goals. Private coaching is open to all ages and can be used for: theatre roles, TV/film roles, show auditions, college auditions, competitions, public speaking engagements, or just-for-fun/educational purposes. After you register, Billy will contact you to get a clearer understanding of your goals and book your first session. The goal of private coaching is to find ease and confidence in your acting while developing a personal process that will serve you in performance contexts and beyond. Billy specializes in the Meisner technique, Shakespearean performance, and Edith Skinner's approach to voice, speech, and dialects.
Instructor Biography: Billy is SEACT's Program Manager, providing leadership and oversight of youth and education classes for the organization. A theatre actor, director, and educator, he has acted on professional stages including Alabama Shakespeare Festival, Trinity Repertory Company, The Theatre At Monmouth, and Island City Stage. Billy holds a BFA in Drama from New York University, an MFA in Acting from Brown University, and an MSEd in Secondary English Education from Troy University. He also teaches Theatre and Speech courses at Troy University’s Dothan campus.

Services include: professional development, theatre program development, teacher training, classroom arts integration, skills-based workshops, team building events, and private consultation sessions. A representative of your organization should register here to initiate a conversation with a qualified Arts Specialist. Our suggested rate is a $100/hr tax-deductible donation to Southeast Alabama Community Theatre, which can be made after services have been rendered. We look forward to working with you! |
