Professor of Theatre at Louisiana Christian University, Tabitha Huffman will lead the students in learning a standard British accent and a standard Irish accent in this 2-hour intensive. Learn or improve these accents for your next role!
Professor Huffman teaches the proper way to learn dialects. Attendees are taught how to listen to a dialect and find the sound substitutions from standard English. Through marking the sound substitutions in scripts meant for Standard British and Irish, the students will then be able to recite the provided monologue with a consistent Standard Bristish and Irish accents.
Ms. Huffman is Professor of Theatre Arts at Louisiana Christian University. She has been teaching Acting, Voice & Movement, Diction and Dialect, and other theatre related courses at LCU since 2005. She is also the Artistic Director of Theatre Louisiana Christian (tlc), having directed 40+ productions. She received her Master's of Fine Arts in Acting at Florida Atlantic University. She holds bachelor's degrees in Theatre Arts and Psychology from Louisiana College. Prof. Huffman has previously taught as an adjunct instructor at Palm Beach Atlantic, Florida Atlantic University and New World School of the Arts in Miami, Florida.
Professor Huffman has also had significant experience working in the film industry, having owned and operated a talent agency for actors for 8 years, Trinity Talent Agency. Her agency, now under new ownership, covers film, television, and commercial projects all through the Southeast region. The industry relationships and connections she gained through her time as an agent have been and continue to be a vital asset to the success of her graduates pursuing film.
