Camp Creator and Director: Sydney Simpson is a theater performer, music director, and certified voice teacher/coach from Austin, TX. Growing up as part of a regularly moving military family, Sydney found that it was local theater and children’s performing arts programs that provided her a space to grow and be known wherever she went. She found her home on the stage at 6 years old, performing in her first opera, La Boheme, with The El Paso Opera Company, as well as being cast in her first play, Bells On Their Toes. Sydney’s further production experiences also include Oliver (Oliver), Annie (Annie), A West Texas Christmas Carol (Goldie), Little Shop of Horrors (Crystal & Chiffon), Peter Pan (Tiger Lily), Twelfth Night (Viola), It’s A Wonderful Life (Mary Hatch-Bailey) and a concert performance of Jesus Christ Superstar (Chorus). Since graduating with her B.A. in Music Business from Florida State University in 2013, Sydney earned a Teaching & Assessment Certification through her study abroad in Australia, as well as a Voice Teaching and Coaching Certification from New York Vocal Coaching with renowned vocal coach Justin Stoney. Sydney enjoys combining the wealth of her diverse experiences with the structure of her formal education to create rich artistic learning spaces for individuals and groups of all ages.
