Introductory session covering the fundamentals of additive color relief printing, including the planning of an image, cutting, ink mixing and printing.
Additive relief is a quick and accessible form of relief printmaking that relies on cut material acting as an elevated surface, spliced together to hold ink and make a design. It requires no carving and allows for more flexible use of color in a single run than traditional block printing via division of the matrix, or printing block.
This class will help you get familiar with printmaking as a medium, as well as translating a design into something which can be hand-reproduced and iterated. For those with some experience in single-run relief, it will serve as an opportunity to incorporate color into designs in a new way. The class will also include a brief discussion on color theory and its applications in relief printing. Enroll |
