(Fall #2) Saturdays, November 2nd & November 16th

10:00am – 2:00pm

Embossing, also known as blind embossing, is a beautiful printmaking technique that involves pressing deep textures into paper. In this experimental workshop, you will create small blind embossed prints. There is no ink involved, so the emphasis is on creating texture and playing with light and shadow creating subtle and dynamic images that change with the angle of light. Sometimes inspiration blossoms when your choices are limited, and if you are used to printing with color, blind embossing will stretch your understanding of the printed surface, introducing sculptural elements into your printmaking. In the first workshop day, you will spend the first half of the workshop creating designs with a variety of materials and the second half printing the designs onto paper. In the second workshop you will create more designs to emboss and/or bring designs you have created throughout the week. This is a great way to create personal notecards too!
