Ages 8-9. (RAD Level Grade 2) If a student is new to our program, please contact us prior to registration to discuss placement. A natural progression from Classical Ballet 1 again continuing a strong emphasis on correct body placement, technique, and musicality. Syllabus continues to incorporate two additional styles: Character work, which helps develop timing and rhythm; and Free Movement, which helps to develop poise, musicality, and sensitivity to music. Students will take two Classical Ballet 2 sessions per week. Class progresses from the Fall into Winter/Spring.
The Winter/Spring session provides two additional opportunities: students could be invited to participate in our Royal Academy of Dance Exams mid-spring, and the guaranteed ability to perform in our Annual Spring Recital in May. Examinations and Recital participation will require additional fees.
Dress Code: Girls: Royal Academy of Dance Aimee leotard in Light Blue, pink or skin tone-matched tights, Bloch full sole ballet shoes and Freed canvas low heel character shoes. Boys: White t-shirt, navy or black shorts, white socks, white Bloch full sole ballet shoes, and black lace up character shoes. Girl’s Leotards available through our studio, and all other items available at Dance Supplies, Etc in Severna Park (410- 647-8727).
Girls will be fitted for character skirts during the first week of classes which will be borrowed or purchased depending on availability.
