| More Information | A totally great time that may result in mild side effects such as newfound opinions about color theory, emotional attachment to paintbrushes, and a suspicious interest in berets. Inspired by artists who have already done it—or some who are still in the process—we’ll look at their interesting lives and works. Then, using their stories and examples, create new, personal “inspired-by” artwork of our own. You’ll hear a little art history, maybe a funny anecdote or two, and get into the “why” behind the work—the stuff that makes it matter. It’s less about technical perfection and more about clarity of message. In the words of Mark Rothko, “There is no such thing as a good painting about nothing.” No prior experience necessary. All are welcome, because creativity belongs to everyone and we intend to prove it (while having a lot of fun doing it). Each workshopper will leave with a finished acrylic painting.
