Course Description

Train in the powerful and imaginative Michael Chekov Technique with Producing Artistic Director Jeff Thomakos, the most highly credentialed Chekov teacher in the world. As a tri-certified Master Teacher through multiple Chekhov organizations, Jeff brings a rare depth of expertise to this transformative, one-week intensive.

This immersive experience introduces actors to a dynamic, psycho-physical approach that connects the body and imagination to unlock truthful, expressive performance. Rather than relying on emotional recall, the Chekhov technique empowers actors to access character through phsyical gesture, movement, atmosphere, and creative imagery.

Throughout the week, students will explore core Chekhov principles, including psychological gesture, tempo, and rhythm, imaginary centers, and the relationship between inner impulse and outer expression. Through guided exercises, ensemble work, and scene exploration, actors will expand their range, strengthen their prescence and develop bold, playable choices rooted in physical storytelling.
