These 9 weeks of Taiji Quan are an introduction to the principles and philosophy of this internal martial art form through the instruction and guidance of local practitioner, Rachel Edwards, MS, LAc.. Class time includes warm-up exercises and practicing slow, gentle Yang style Taiji movements to cultivate greater balance, ease and flexibility. In addition, students are introduced to tui shou or push hands and other partner exercises to practice listening and following. Qigong and standing meditation (zhan zhuang) are also integrated into the curriculum.
As a Chinese Medicine practitioner, Rachel considers Taiji Quan both a method of cultivating health and wellbeing as well as a path to embody a deeper sense of interconnectivity that contributes to the realized care of ourselves, our planet, and all beings.
