| The André Cailloux Center in Partnership with Them People Productions Presents In the Bloodline: A Chief's Story in Beads and Beats
Join us for In the Bloodline: A Chief’s Story in Beads and Beats, an unforgettable evening hosted by Big Chief Bo Dollis Jr. of the legendary Wild Magnolias. This live cultural experience blends storytelling, music, and tradition as Bo Jr. shares the history of his late father, Big Chief Bo Dollis Sr., and the deep roots of their tribe—through the lens of his newest hand-beaded suit and selections from his forthcoming album.
Bo Dollis Jr.’s highly anticipated project, Chip Off the Old Block (out June 13th on Strong Place Records), honors the Wild Magnolias’ New Orleans legacy while building sonic bridges to Memphis soul. The album features an all-star cast including the Hi Rhythm Section, Anjelika “Jelly” Joseph (Galactic, Tank and the Bangas), and Lina Beach on guitar. Co-produced by Grammy-winners Boo Mitchell, Martin Shore, and Cody Dickinson, it’s a vibrant fusion of Mardi Gras Indian tradition, funk, blues, and a new generation of soul.
On the powerful title track, Bo Jr. celebrates the cultural fire passed down by his father: “I’m a chip off the old block, like my dad who made a difference in New Orleans culture back in the day.” From the opening anthem “Young Time Indians/Indian Red” to the fiery reimagining of Otis Redding’s “Hard to Handle,” the album pulses with pride, resilience, and evolution.
Part concert, part oral history, and part sacred ritual, this event offers a rare and intimate look into Black masking culture and the generational power of art, resistance, and rhythm. From Mardi Gras to global stages, this is the story of a bloodline that beats to the drum of a nation.

| Black Coffee Sunday: A Cultural Homecoming
Them People Productions is proud to present Black Coffee Sunday — a soulful, sensory-rich experience coming to New Orleans for the very first time. What began in Oakland as our flagship event now returns home, not as a repeat, but as a full-circle moment.
Born in Memphis and steeped in legacy, Cxffeeblack is the revolutionary movement reclaiming the Black history of coffee from seed to sip. At the center is Bartholomew Jones — educator, emcee, and cultural force — whose storytelling and curated tasting experience has electrified audiences across the country.
Now, in partnership with the André Cailloux Center, we’re honored to introduce Bartholomew and his mission to our own community through film, flavor, and conversation.
