The Persistent Guest

by Jodeen Revere

Directed by Benjamin Burdick

Originally intended to be part of a book, local performer Jodeen Revere first presented her story as a sixty-minute reading at the Ming Studio's 7 O’clock Series. Jodeen's piece was funny, touching, insightful, enlightening and full of unexpected observations about her three separate rounds of treatment for breast cancer. The crowd was enthralled and enthusiastic. It became clear the piece was in fact a one-woman show. Jodeen is a Boise local, well-known and beloved, and many members of this community play a part in her story. She embodies multiple characters, employs projections of documentary images and original artwork, and guides us expertly with her charm, physical prowess and love for life.

All Is Calm

Written by Peter Rothstein, Vocal Arr. by Erick Lichte and Timothy C. Takach

Directed by Tracy Sunderland

Our co-production with Opera Idaho last season was embraced so enthusiastically by audiences that we are bringing All is Calm back for an encore run!

The Western Front, Christmas, 1914. Out of the violence a silence, then a song. A German soldier steps into No Man’s Land singing “Stille Nacht.” Thus begins an extraordinary night of camaraderie, music, and peace. A remarkable true story, told in the words and songs of the men who lived it. All Is Calm had a highly successful Off-Broadway run in 2018, for which it won a Drama Desk Award for Unique Theatrical Experience.

All Is Calm is an Add-On Show and is not redeemable as part of any season pass.

Tiny Beautiful Things

based on the book by Cheryl Strayed, Adapted by Nia Vardalos

Directed by Julie Ritchey

Based on the best-selling book by Cheryl Strayed and adapted for the stage by Nia Vardalos, Tiny Beautiful Things personifies the questions and answers that “Sugar” (Cheryl Strayed) was publishing online from 2010-2012. When the struggling writer was asked to take over the unpaid, anonymous position of advice columnist, Strayed used empathy and her personal experiences to help those seeking guidance for obstacles both large and small. Tiny Beautiful Things is a play about reaching when you’re stuck, healing when you’re broken, and finding the courage to take on the questions that have no answers.

The Christians

by Lucas Hnath

Director TBD

Twenty years ago, Pastor Paul’s church was nothing more than a modest storefront. Now he presides over a congregation of thousands, with classrooms for Sunday School, a coffee shop in the lobby, and a baptismal font as big as a swimming pool. Today should be a day of celebration. But Paul is about to preach a sermon that will shake the foundations of his church’s belief. A big-little play about faith in America—and the trouble with changing your mind. BroadwayWorld.com said the play: “…plants the audience squarely in the thick of the battle…utterly engrossing…many attendees bowed their heads at each call for prayer before reminding themselves that this is, in fact, just a play.”
