Thank you to everyone who contributed to our Kid Power campaign!

We were able to raise over $20,000 with the generous support of people who understand how important it is that we keep Pumpkin Theatre going as we move into our 48th Season, Running on Kid Power! Your gifts help us promote and produce our live theatre productions, School of Drama and upcoming touring programs.

An important part of our main stage season is our Pathways to Theatre program. Through donations, we are able to offer free admission to each of our productions to school children who might otherwise not be able to attend a Pumpkin Theatre show. This important program often is a child’s first opportunity to see a live theatrical performance.

Pumpkin Theatre also receives regular visits from the Maryland School for the Blind. Their students attend all dress rehearsals for each of our main stage shows, free of charge. Our artists are always so eager to perform for these audiences. The kids from the School for the Blind are always the most enthusiastic and appreciative group of audience members for every show. We value their regular visits and hope to continue our relationship for years to come.

Season 48 will mark Pumpkin Theatre’s third Kids for Kids production. This is a show acted entirely by young people, ages 6 to 18. It has proven to be our most popular production each year. Students get to experience a professional audition process and, if cast, enjoy the same rehearsal process as our professional actors do.

Education has been a key component of Pumpkin Theatre and its mission for years. We want to educate as well as entertain. Our School of Drama is active throughout the year with fall and spring classes and summer camps. Theatre Playground is an introduction to theatre for young children. Let’s Make a Play is all about what goes into making a play. This includes all aspects of design and the writing of a play performed by Pumpkin Theatre professional company members. More advanced classes are offered for older students with focuses on Scene Study, Shakespeare, and Stage Combat. Our Broadway Jr. summer camp is our most popular education program by far. Each summer, for two weeks, talented young performers learn the rehearsal process and ultimately perform a cabaret style show for friends and family. Pumpkin Theatre also holds workshops during the course of the year. Past offerings have been workshops in Auditioning, Comedy, Magic, and Puppetry, to name a few!

Your generosity has been overwhelming. If you missed the Kid Power campaign, not to worry! You can donate to Pumpkin Theatre year round. Every dollar helps and is always needed. You can even set up a recurring contribution, be it monthly, quarterly, or annually. It’s quick and easy. However much you give and however often, please know that we understand you have choices as to where you give your charitable donations. In return, we will strive to continue to offer excellent theatre and educational programming. Your gifts are tax deductible and donations can be made via our website, www.pumpkintheatre.org, or send your check payable to Pumpkin Theatre to 2905 Walnut Avenue Owings Mills, MD 21117.

Thank you for supporting Pumpkin Theatre!
