Celtic Series: Gadan

Tuesday, Feb. 10 @ 7pm

Gadan is a storming new band blending the drive of Irish trad and bluegrass with the soul of folk and Appalachian music… spiced with Italian flair! Featuring young yet seasoned Italian musicians from the Irish trad and European folk scene, they joined forces in 2024 with Enda Scahill, tenor banjo legend and founder of We Banjo 3.

With no less than three outrageous, unlawful, and audacious banjos – plus fiddle, mandolin, and guitar – Gadan delivers a powerful “strings-only” sound, enhanced by a driving rhythmic pulse. Their high energy performance and audience engagement prove you don’t need drums to groove!

--------------------------------------------------------------
We all want to have a good time at this event so please carefully read the following guidelines for Drag Shows at the Lincoln City Cultural Center.

Drag Show Etiquette

Do not touch the performer.
Tipping does not grant permission for physical contact. Drag artists invest significant time and care in their appearance, and unsolicited touching can be disruptive or disrespectful. Always maintain appropriate boundaries unless explicit consent is given.

Be an engaged audience member.
Drag is an interactive art form. Applause, cheers, and positive energy enhance the experience for both the performer and the audience. Attentiveness and enthusiasm are encouraged and appreciated.

Tip the performers — thoughtfully and appropriately.
Tipping a drag artist is an essential part of show etiquette, much like tipping service staff. Many performers receive little to no guaranteed pay and rely heavily on tips to cover the significant costs of wigs, makeup, costumes, and rehearsal time. If you enjoy the performance, acknowledge that work with a cash tip.
When tipping:
- One to five dollars is customary; more is always appreciated for exceptional performances.
- Avoid tipping with coins.
- Offer tips during natural pauses in the performance, never interrupt a routine.
- Please do not ask performers for change - seek out a staff member to get change.

Avoid entitlement.
A drag performance is a shared, communal experience. Personal celebrations or large tips do not guarantee special attention. Appreciate the performance as it is presented and enjoy it alongside fellow audience members.

Maintain a sense of humor.
Playful teasing and satire are long-standing elements of drag culture. If you find yourself the subject of a joke, understand it is meant in the spirit of entertainment, not personal criticism. Approach the experience with openness and good humor.

Respect queer spaces.
Drag performances often take place in spaces that serve as cultural and social safe havens for LGBTQ+ communities. Treat these environments and the people within them with respect, and care. Avoid assumptions about identity and engage with others thoughtfully.

Enjoy the experience.
Above all, drag is a celebration of creativity, expression, and joy. Come prepared to be entertained, support the performers, and participate in the collective energy of the room.

This will be a 21 and older event with security and bag checks, thanks!
