Bert Rodriguez returns to The Winter Park Playhouse Spotlight Cabaret Series with a new solo cabaret entitled Mi Familia. Using anecdotes from his family history and travels across the globe, Bert will examine how the family we choose is just as important as the family we inherit. Playhouse Musical Director Christopher Leavy will accompany on the piano.
Mr. Rodriguez is a popular vocalist and musical director in the area and has appeared in many theatrical and theme park productions. Playhouse patrons will know Bert mostly recently from A Swingin' Christmas. He has also appeared in numerous Mainstage productions, including Nunsense Amen!, The Andrews Brothers and Breaking Up is Hard to Do as well as the Florida Festival of New Musicals. | Rhythms of the Carribbean

In honor of Black Music Month and Caribbean Heritage Month, The Winter Park Playhouse has teamed up with Barbara Chandler Productions to present Rhythms of the Caribbean, an evening celebrating Caribbean music showcasing Caribbean steel pan and poetry, Caribbean folk songs and Caribbean gospel singers. This unique one night event will take place in our beautiful lobby bar/cabaret space on Thursday, June 13 at 7:30pm.
Rhythms of the Caribbean will feature "The Pannist and The Poet" from the Islands of Trinidad and Tobago, steel pan player Anthony Lewis and poet Winston Andrews. The evening will also feature Caribbean gospel singer Stacey "Elevated" Wilson as well as Jamaican storyteller and folklorist Violet Lawrence. These popular events sell out quickly so get your tickets today!

Halle Bolingbroke is all but guaranteed to become the next captain of the New London Lady Leopard Varsity Cheer Squad. It's her senior year, she's been cheering all her life, and her mom, Doretha, is both the former captain and current coach. Halle isn't feeling all that cheerful about her mother's brand of cheering, though, so she has taken a job at the local truckstop diner. Doretha will stop at nothing to maintain her cheer dynasty, Charmain, the two women face off in a quest for captainhood, power and cheer itself.
Cheer Wars is inspired by Shakespeare's Henry IV, Part 1 and the true story of Wanda Holloway.

The Kevorkians, a secret club of senior citizens living at the Four Season Retirement Home, have botched their attempt to dispatch one of their own. Failing in their promise to end each other's suffering, the group is at their wit's end when swashbuckling Eddy bursts onto the scene and situational comedy ensues. In the end, the Kervorkians navigate the curve balls of old age and by embracing hope, friendship and love, they learn that the golden years can really be golden.

This kickin' new country western musical follows a woman's journey from local troublemaker to passionate activist, while balancing her feelings for two very different men. Carolina Rising incorporates an original score featuring country, bluegrass, blues and gospel numbers.
