What happened to the boys who played Shakespeare's women? In the summer of 1606, six boy players warm up, run lines, gossip, and fall in and out of love all in between rehearsals for the premieres of Antony and Cleopatra and Twelfth Night. As the plague and rising religious conservatism threaten their way of life, they are all forced to reconsider their futures on the stage.

AFABulous 2026: The Untold Stories of San Diego's Assigned-Female-at-Birth Drag Artists

AFABulous combines fierce drag performances and epic storytelling (supported by community partnerships with Living Proof Stories, Big Table Productions, and the House of Barr) to help our audience get to know San Diego’s queer nightlife entertainers and learn more about what’s out there in our drag community beyond cis-male drag queens.

Each performer performs one drag number of their choice and a short personal narrative story centered around this year’s theme: It's My First Time, as well as answering audience-submitted questions throughout the show! Funny, poignant, educational, or all three, AFABulous is an evening of truly unique storytelling. fierce drag performances and epic storytelling for an unforgettable evening of gender-bending entertainment.
