Kicking off Portland Ballet’s 40th anniversary year will be GALLERY: Composing Choreography, presented February 28-March 7, 2020 at the Portland Ballet Studio Theater. This creative presentation of dance will feature new, contemporary works choreographed by members of the company.

Renegade Writers: A Partnership Performance at the Portland Ballet Studio Theater

Renegade Writers return for three performances in 2020: Words and humor with music and more from your secret neighbors. Unexpected writers on destiny, legacy, immigration, here forever, love, loss — and laughter. Samaa Abdurraqib, Kerem Durdag, and Stephanie Cotsirilos perform thought-provoking stories, lyrics, and poems. Guest artists will join us across art forms and cultural traditions. We may even dance together. February 6th (Samma Abdurraqib), March 12th (Kerem Durdag), April 2nd (Stephanie Cotsirilos), at the Portland Ballet Studio Theater.

This innovative program mixes performance, lecture, and demonstration in order to educate people about the performing arts and everything that goes into a production.

Presented by Artistic Director Nell Shipman and the dancers of Portland School of Ballet, the performance will walk the audience through the process of creating and performing a ballet. This will include choreography, set design, lighting, and more.

Midsummer Night's DREAM

The 2019/2020 season concludes April 24-25, 2020 at the Westbrook Performing Arts Center with Artistic Director Nell Shipman’s Midsummer Night’s Dream, which previously premiered in 2015.

Portland Ballet’s take on William Shakespeare’s romantic comedy about love and marriage, set in an enchanted forest in ancient Greece, was a previous audience favorite and will delight patrons of all ages!
